 I removed the transmission with the engine and everything on it looked fine, ie, no damage from the fire.  I did replace the o-ring on the filler tube and replaced the dipstick.  The previous owner had stated that this transmission shifted just fine so I saw no reason to open it up.  I did completely drain the transmission and the torque converter, replaced the filter, and refilled with fresh Type F fluid.

UPDATE:  After doing all that, once I got the car running again, I had a problem with the transmission shifting into high gear and reverse.  I had Joe at Southside Transmission in Virginia Beach completely rebuild the C-4 for me and reinstalled it with a new torque converter.  The rebuild has a 1 year warranty from mid-July.

Of note is that this is the original transmission for this car.  Similar to the engine, it has the VIN stamped into the casing.  Also note the driveshaft has the factory identifying stripes on it.
