The right front portion of the passenger floor is the only area on this car that I chose to cut and replace.  There are other areas that are shown on the floor section that I chose not to remove at this time, but it is shown in great detail on the floor page.

This is really a shame.  The only reason that this floor rusted out is because some knucklehead cut the side of the cowl for a speaker and then didn't seal it up.  The cowl itself is otherwise rock solid.

I cut out all of the bad area and placed the seam along the front toe board, the frame to the left, and the rocker panel to the right.  This way I did not have to flange the floor, it would already be resting on solid support when I welded it.

I cut the patch to be an exact match.  I also had to fabricate a small portion of the seat riser on the front right of that.

The area to be welded was ground clean, and the patch was blasted to remove some surface rust, and then both were painted with a weld through primer (looks copper colored).  I punched the patch with 3/8 holes and plug filled them, and also stitch welded the seam on the left and the seam to the back.  From the bottom you almost cannot tell the floor was patched.

After all the welds were ground smooth, I painted again with Rustoleum primer and then covered with a black just to topcoat the primer.  I used brushable seam sealer on all the seams to make it water tight.  The cut in the side of the cowl was also sealed and the car was thoroughly checked with the water hose to make sure there are no more leaks.
