The choke stove is one of the most overlooked parts during a typical Mustang restoration.

While most "restorers" will may paint the engine bay and the engine, and may even take them apart and detail them correctly, the choke stove is usually left with one or both tubes missing, clogged, or otherwise not functional.

I started with a typical small block exhaust manifold, cleaned and painted, but with both choke tubes busted off in the fittings.

Here you can see both tubes busted off.  I started by using a hammer and chisel to remove the old fitting on the bottom of the choke stove.

This is my collection of junk that came out with the old mesh filter.

Here is the old filter and fitting compared to the new ones.  They are a pretty good match.

This is of the cleaned up manifold with the old rusted tube drilled out on top, and the choke cavity cleaned out on bottom.

The new mesh filter is installed, followed by the new fitting in place.

This is the freshly rebuilt choke stove with new choke tubes and fittings.  Once it is hooked up to the freshly rebuilt carb, the new owner can expect that the car will start with the automatic choke mechanism working just the way Ford intended.
